Introductory AI Assignment: Discussion and Reflection
This is an open class conversation that prompts students to think about and reflect on their use of AI.
Discussion and Reflection Assignment: In an open-class conversation, the group will explore the following:
1. What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)? Define AI in your own words.
2. Have you used AI tools before? If so, which tool(s) did you use, why, where (i.e., in an academic, professional, and/or personal setting), and how did you use those tool(s)?
3. Thinking about the academic setting, do you currently rely on AI to make your work and assignments better? If yes, how?
4. What do you believe are ethical concerns related to the use of AI? Note: As part of your response, consider (and discuss) plagiarism, misinformation, data privacy, and bias.
5. What are some ways that AI can help you strengthen your knowledge/skills, growth, and success?
6. What are some ways that you believe AI can stifle your personal and professional growth? In the academic setting, what do we sacrifice when we rely on AI?
7. In what ways do you believe employers are using AI? What do you think they would like you to know about AI, or the use of AI, when you start working?
